How You Train Makes the DifferenceTM
Triathlon Coaching and Training Plans

Athlete Testimonials

Scoty Graber...

"Your coaching helped to make my 2009 season a success. Prior to using Scoty as a coach, my longest triathlon was a sprint and my training was haphazard at best. Scoty worked with me to develop a customized training program that addressed both my weaknesses (swimming and biking) and enhanced my strengths (running). During the training there were lots of times when I cursed Scoty’s name (i.e. the long bike/run bricks) – but his training plan ultimately allowed me to finish in the top quartile of my first half-ironman race (California 70.3). Besides his training program, Scoty also took the time to explain the rationale and theory behind the training, the importance of nutrition, and assuage my pre-race concerns. I would highly recommend Scoty’s coaching to anyone looking to improve their performance or make the transition to longer races."

Coach Sydney...

"As a coach, Sydney has pushed me farther than I thought I was capable of. She has coached me in everything from sprint triathlons to half-ironman distance triathlons and has known exactly what I needed to do to achieve my goals. Sydney combines her in-depth knowledge of the sport of triathlon, nutrition and racing experience to provide her athletes with the total coaching package!"

Coach Sydney...

"Syd not only coaches with a extraordinary level of expertise but a level of compassion, dedication, and encouragement that helped get me across the finish line of the Boise 70.3."

Pete...

"This has been the best season ever although it can't top competing in college. I can say I think I'm in the best shape of my life. Thank you for an Amazing Season."

Coach Scoty...

"Trust me, you’ll be ready.” That is what I heard from Scoty for about 6 months heading into California Ironman 70.3 in April. I had done 5 sprint triathlon races total before deciding I wanted to try longer distances. I was hooked on the sport and the challenge of doing longer distances and continuing to improve motivated me. I needed to get some guidance in my training and knew Scoty through the Parker Tri Club. We talked and got a long great so I decided to hire him about 6 month out from the California 70.3. I am a horrible athlete to coach, I read every article, book, and blog about triathlon and then question Scoty every step of the way. And every time I did, “trust me, you’ll be ready.” What I have realized since is that the articles are too vague, they are general points about training and racing, and the blogs are one person’s results/ideas. Scoty took my training based on my abilities and my schedule and got me through my first half ironman. He was right, I was ready.

I have also started swimming in the masters program coached by Scoty. Scoty is able to teach a class, with varying levels of swimmers, in a way that benefits everyone. Everyone gets a good workout and at the same time Scoty is able to help point out issues with stroke technique that allows people to improve their ability level.

Now after knowing Scoty for a little more than a year, I respect Scoty as a Club leader, a coach and as a personal friend. I still question everything he says, but I know Scoty has my best interest in mind, as he does for all his athletes and club members. Scoty takes pride in his athlete accomplishments more so than he does his own, that says a lot about the guy.

As 2009 ends I start to look forward to working with Scoty in preparation for the next step, a full Ironman in 2010."

Coach Pete...

"Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, for an amazing season! There were a lot of external factors that went into my PR at IronMan Wisconsin this year, and none of them were more impactful than having you as my coach.

This was my fourth IronMan and I am truly amazed at the sheer volume of stuff you taught me. Your support with my nutrition, gear, and focus was two or three notches higher than anything I received in the past. The most valuable part of the entire season, however, was the training schedule that you created and frequently modified throughout the season. Your attention and understanding to my specific schedule, strengths and areas to improve was so far superior to a generic schedule that there isn't anyway to compare the two.

I also loved being able to pick up the phone and call you to talk about any situation that was going on at any time. Your enthusiasm for the sport and for my success was very evident in each of our conversations.

I wish you all the best and hope to have the opportunity to work with you again. Be Free!"
