How You Train Makes the DifferenceTM

About Coach Steve

Coach Steve has been a competitive athlete all his life. His athletic background as a youth was primarily football, baseball, swimming, and ski racing. Coach ST turned to competitive endurance sports as a college student in San Diego in the early 1980s and has since competed in over 100 triathlons, including seven Ironman races. In addition to racing as a competitive road and track cyclist since the early 1980's and as an age-group triathlete for over 20 years, he has been coaching cyclists and triathletes at all levels, both competitive and recreational. Steve is currently a member of the Hammer Racing Team, a masters track racing team based in Colorado, and also coaches the development clinics at the 7-Eleven Olympic Velodrome in Colorado Springs.

Coach Steve has maintained a steady appetite for a sound basis of knowledge in the many aspects of sport, from equipment, to skills and techniques, to training and nutrition. His continued association with professional coaches, athletes, and sports scientists through the years has provided a very centered and realistic basis for providing athletes of all types with coaching services.

COACHING PHILOSOPHY - A coach has a unique and honorable duty in sport - to provide the athlete with the best quality information available, over a wide range of topics, to assist and promote the athlete in reaching his or her goals. The coach and the athlete have a unique relationship then, based on that duty. I take my position in the coach-athlete relationship very seriously. It is my intent that you achieve whatever it is that you dream.

I am a life-long student of the sport. I am a voracious reader and researcher, and I am constantly looking to upgrade my own knowledge of all things athletic, so that I can pass that on to my athletes. Coaching is more then just charging a fee for a training plan. Athletes depend on their coaches for all sorts of advice over a very broad range of topics. And I do my best to be as up-to-date as possible, given the rapidly changing scientific and technical environment in our sport.
