Mile High Multisport, LLC was founded in 2004 by Peter and Kathy Alfino. We have been involved in the triathlon community in Denver since moving here in 1993. Our relationship began when we met participating in a triathlon in 1989 and triathlons have been an integral part of our life ever since. We have over 50 years experience in the multisport community and have participated in Sprint, Olympic, Half Ironman and Ironman distance races including the Ironman World Championships three times. In addition to triathlons, we have competed in various marathons, snow shoe, mountain biking, duathlons, distance swimming and running relay events throughout the United States and Canada.
In addition to our participation in races, we are both certified United States Triathlon Coaches. Kathy holds degrees in nursing, microbiology and a masters in Exercise Physiology. MHM is Pete’s full time job and beginning in January of 2011, Kathy is going part time so she can dedicate more time to working with her clients. Our belief is that it takes a community to develop a strong athlete. We have partnered with some of the top professionals in their fields so we can provide our athletes with a well rounded experience.
Anything is possible if you are dedicated to your goals and have both the physical and mental abilities to succeed. Success isn’t always about winning races. Triathlon is a hobby for most of our clients and we strive to have balance with our training plans. Regardless of your age or ability, our experience as athletes and coaches can provide you with the direction you need to achieve your multisport dreams.
Our involvement in the sport of triathlon reaches beyond coaching and racing. We believe giving back to the sport is equally as important as participating in events. Pete founded the Mile High Multisport triathlon club in 2000, which eventually became the Bike Source Multisport club. He served as President for several years, in which the club won consecutive club national championships and membership grew to over 200. We have organized several fund raisers for local athletes, one an Olympic medalist in Athens and raised $25,000 for two triathletes seriously injured in an accident in 2009. We have been active members of the Rocky Mountain Triathlon Club since 2005 and have strong relationships with triathlon clubs and race directors throughout the Denver area. You will often see one of us on the side lines providing words of encouragement to race participants or serving as volunteers. We also manage the open water swimming program at Grant Ranch which includes a master’s swim program, swim clinics and swim races.
We began coaching as a way to share our breadth of knowledge with athletes in the community. We are thrilled to be able to share our passion for improved health and fitness with others.
As you select an organization to be associated with, look beyond price and athletic accomplishments. Seek a coach who is interested in developing a relationship with you and who is willing to devote their time in helping you achieve your athletic goals.
How You Train Makes The Difference!!
Respectfully,
Peter & Kathy Alfino
